CENTURY TOWER REHABILITATION

Located in downtown Seattle, Century Tower is an 8-story reinforced concrete building with a masonry facade that was constructed in 1918. NGJ was initially retained following the February 2001 Nisqually Earthquake to perform a Structural Condition Assessment and Earthquake Damage Review of the building. Issues identified in our review included: |
Significant new exterior wall cracking.
Masonry parapet wall damage and deterioration.
Corrosion related concrete distress on the exterior walls from a combination of carbonation and chlorides.
Poorly consolidated concrete with numerous weakened cold joints.Weakened and deteriorated concrete areas in the North exterior wall.
